Birmingham, Alabama Finalist Michael Jarvis won the US Mr. Gay 2009 title at the US National Finale in San Francisco over the November 15, 2008 weekend – taking home both the main title and the Mr. Congeniality Award from the fourth annual US Mr. Gay Competition.   The twenty year old Alabama resident took home both prizes from a field of ten US Finalists after two days of judge’s interviews and public appearances in San Francisco.  The Awards Show at the Museum of Performance & Design in San Francisco’s Civic Center District was presented in front of a ‘sold-out’ audience of guests and family members.  Master of Ceremonies for the show was actor Anthony Durante.

Michael, who was sponsored by Erik & Ryan Productions, traveled the greatest distance to attend the Competition and was rewarded with his big win, which now places him as the US Delegate to the International Mr. Gay (IMG) Competition, set for Manilla on May 30th, 2009.  He will be available during his 2009 term as the US Mr. Gay Delegate for public appearances and speaking engagements to support the Mission of the Noble Beast Foundation, which is to “Advocate International Equal Rights by confirming the essential nature and contributions of gay men to a healthy society where “gay” is not a stereotype.”

Michael is a Banker in Birmingham who specializes in Mortgages.  He was educated in the US Army’s Military Police Academy and is supported by a strong duo of Steve Savage from Dallas, who is the 1st Runner Up and Jesse Lopez from Santa Fe, the 2nd Runner Up, as the three top vote earners during the US National Finale.  Winner of the Philanthropy Award was Philadelphia’s John Caputo and the Photogenic Award went to Sacramento’s Alex Hui.

The evening’s Judges were Richard Klein, the publisher of surface magazine, Bob Hartnagel, an aid to California Senator Mark Leno, and the Ford Agency’s Leonard McCants.
